History

The history of The Unico System is a 21 year
odyssey that began in the spring of 1985 when
Joe & Sharon Intagliata began their association
with the company.
Unico, Inc. has evolved over the years into the industry leader in the Small Duct High Velocity market. In fact, Unico, Inc. spearheaded and led the effort in getting Small Duct High Velocity systems approved as our own class of product with the United States Department of Energy.
Unico, Inc. aligned major HVAC manufacturers, conservation groups, the Department of Energy,
politicians from both sides of the political aisle, engineers from the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and
Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and other assorted HVAC industry partners and influencers in order to
finally recognize The Unico System as its own classification of product called Small Duct High Velocity central
heating and air conditioning. This designation was granted by the Department of Energy in October of 2004.
In 1985, Unico, Inc. started in a garage in Chicago, Illinois. Today, it has grown to over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing and storage space today with distribution and sales in North America, Europe, the African
continent, Central and South America, and China. Unico System, Inc. finds itself poised for consistent growth in
the years to come.
