President Lincoln's Cottage    Truman House

Designated a National Historic Landmark in 1974 and a National Monument in 2000, the home was President Lincoln’s seasonal home from June to November during 1862-1864. One key concern for the restoration was that it not harm the existing architecture of the historic home. With this in mind, the goal was also to make it appear as if Lincoln was still in residence, but have modern conveniences of today’s modern world, such as an HVAC system. That’s why Ron Staley of The Christman Company chose the Unico System – for its minimal impact on the historical fabric and its superior performance.

President Truman’s home, a place that has entertained past presidents and dignitaries for over 60 years was in desperate need of help. The conventional system that was installed in 1990 was not doing its job and letting humidity eat away at the irreplaceable artifacts and wasn’t cooling the house properly. Bob Wolz, executive director for the Truman house chose to install the Unico System to combat this problem.

Built over 200 years ago by influential attorney and postman, this beautiful home has certainly stood the test of time. After being restored in the early 1990’s and then sold, the new owners fell in love with the architecture and exquisite interior, but knew the house lacked the indoor comfort they needed to live comfortably. Not wanting to compromise the things they loved about the home, they brought in TJ’s Plumbing and Heating, who knew the Unico System, was the best solution to the problem.
