Warranty Policy

Unico, Inc. manufactures the finest heating and cooling product available and is proud to offer the following Warranty program:

Limited One Year Warranty

1. Unico, Inc. branded products include a standard, limited one year parts only warranty effective from date of equipment commissioning as long as the details of the installation meet the limited warranty requirements shown in the latest update of Unico Bulletin 10-010. Non Unico branded products that may be sold by Unico or a third party include the original manufacturers limited warranty only and is subject to the terms and conditions of that manufacturer’s limited warranty.

Five-year Limited Warranty

2. An extension to a five-year limited warranty is available for residential projects as described in Unico Bulletin 10-012. In summary, the following is needed to extend to a limited five-year warranty.

a. The extension applies to new Unico branded products with a Unico serial number that are installed no later than 360 days from the date the product was shipped from Unico.

b. A listed Unico Preferred Contractor (UPC) in good standing must install the Unico system.

c. The system must be installed per Unico installation instructions and currently published technical bulletins.

d. The project must be registered on the Unico System website before any warranty claims can be processed. (http://www.unicosystem.com/product-warranty/)

Ten-year Limited Warranty

3. An extension to a ten-year limited warranty is available for residential projects as described in Unico Bulletin 10-014. In summary, the following is needed to extend to a limited ten-year warranty.

a. The extension applies to Unico branded products with a Unico serial number only.

b. An installation must include both a new blower and coil module to qualify for this extended warranty.

c. A listed Unico Preferred Contractor (UPC) in good standing must install the Unico system.

d. The project must be registered on The Unico System website within 90 days of installation. (http://www.unicosystem.com/product-warranty/) and no later than 360 days after the product was shipped from Unico.

e. The system must be installed per Unico installation instructions and currently published technical bulletins.

Warranty Details

4. Please read latest version of bulletins 10-010, 10-012, or 10-014 in full for the Detailed eligibility requirements, Exclusions, Processing requirements and additional terms of Unico’s limited warranties. Unico reserves the right in its sole discretion to amend, update, or discontinue warranty programs and coverage terms.

Important Notice

The Unico System is an AHRI listed and matched HVAC system designed to be installed by a qualified, licensed HVAC contractor per Unico’s installation instructions.

Many states and local jurisdictions have specific requirements for contractors to be trained and licensed before installing HVAC systems. Many local building codes require specific installation design, methodology permitting and testing before an HVAC system can be operated.

Unico recommends you select your qualified installing contractor before purchasing equipment so the contractor can assure the system is designed and sized correctly, matched to any auxiliary equipment and compliant with local codes and requirements.

Unico does not provide a warranty for equipment installations that are not performed by a licensed HVAC contractor.

Register Your Unico System for Warranty

Attention property owners/non-resident owners:

Please note that the warranty for Unico equipment is non-transferable.

If you are registering a system for a property that you will not own/plan to sell within six months, please register as a “Property Owner” in the Installation Type field.

Your warranty will be a one-year warranty, and then, within six months of the registration date, you provide the name and contact information for the new homeowner, he/she will receive the balance of the Unico warranty.

We do not want the new homeowner to have any issues after they purchase the home, so please do not register yourself as the “Homeowner” or “Residential”. If you do this, and the new homeowner needs to submit a warranty claim, they will be told that the warranty is null and void since it is non-transferable.

Returns Policy

Return Shipping

If you have ordered the wrong product or no longer want a product you ordered, you will be responsible for the return shipping cost. Returns created because we mistakenly shipped you the wrong item and/or the item is damaged or defective, qualify for free return shipping up to 90 days after the item was received. Please see the refund policy for your specific return for more detailed information.

Ordered the Wrong Products

If you have ordered the wrong product or no longer want a product you ordered, you will be responsible for the return shipping cost. You can call or email our Customer Service Team to set up the return for you. The products must be returned in new and unused condition in the original packaging. The Return Authorization must be included in the box. The customer is responsible for all shipping charges associated with the return. There will be no restocking fee if you return the item within 30 days of receipt. After 30 days, a 25% restocking fee will be applied. We do not offer exchanges, but we would be happy to assist you in locating the correct item if you did make an incorrect purchase, if you need assistance please email or call our Customer Service Team.

Freight Packages — Please Inspect Upon Delivery

Please inspect all freight packages carefully before signing for them. If a package looks damaged in any way as a result of the shipping process, please do not sign for it. Refuse delivery, take pictures of damage if possible, and contact Unico customer service immediately with a description of the damage. We will contact the freight company and submit a claim. If you are unsure whether the shipment looks damaged or not, please inspect it further and open it in front of the driver before signing that it has been received.
It is your right as a customer to fully inspect any freight packages prior to the driver leaving. In the event that you notice concealed damages after the driver has left, you must notify Unico within 24 hours of receipt of delivery.

Received Defective Products – UPS delivery

Unico must be notified of defective products within 30 days of receipt. Please call or email our Customer Service Team to set up the return details. Be sure to complete the Warranty Claim Form. For fastest replacement, please place a new order for the replacement items and we will ship them out to you as soon as possible (you will be credited for the full amount of the original item(s) ordered when we receive your return). Unico will pay the shipping cost associated with the replacement.

Received a Damaged Package

If a damaged package is left at your door, please contact us immediately. You can call or email our Customer Service Team to set up the return for you. Please place a new order for the replacement items and we will ship them out to you as soon as possible (you will be credited for the full amount of the original item(s) ordered when we receive your return). All returned products must be unused and in the original packaging. The Return Authorization must be included in the box.

Received Incorrect Products (Not What You Ordered)

It is rare that we send out the wrong products, as we double check every order, but, if you receive an incorrect product, you must notify Unico as soon as possible by calling or emailing our Customer Service Team to set up the return for you. Please place a new order for the replacement items and we will ship them out to you as soon as possible (you will be credited for the full amount of the original item(s) ordered when we receive your return). All products must be returned in new and unused condition in the original packaging. The Return Authorization must be included in the box.

Replacing Items Under Manufacturer Warranty

If you are experiencing an issue with a product purchased from Unico that is still covered by our manufacturer’s warranty, please contact a Customer Service Representative or send an email. We will advise you of the next steps for getting your replacement as fast as possible as well as starting the warranty claim. Customers are responsible for the shipping costs to send the warranty item back to us, should we require the item returned.

Item(s) must be used in appropriate applications, and replacement parts must be the correct listed replacement suggested by the manufacturer in order to be eligible for warranty coverage. See warranty policy for full warranty claim procedure.

All Other Returns

All returns that don’t fit into one of these categories are eligible for return within 90 days of receipt of the product. There will be no restocking fee if your return is set up within 30 days of receiving the product. After 30 days, a 25% restocking fee will be applied to the return. Please call or email our Customer Service Team to set up the return for you. All items must be returned in their original packaging and your Return Authorization must be included in the box.

Return Procedure

Call customer service at 1-800-527-0896 to set up a return over the phone or send an email.

Your Return Authorization MUST be included in the return package.

Pack the item(s) securely in the original product packaging.

Include all paperwork, parts, and accessories.

All returned items must be brand new, unused and in their original packaging.

Do not write on or place shipping labels directly on manufacturer packaging.

Returned items will be inspected upon arrival.

Send the return package to the address listed on your Return Form:

The return package can be sent using the carrier of your choice.
Keep the tracking number to monitor delivery status.

You can expect a refund in the same form of payment originally used for the purchase within 3–5 business days of our receipt of the returned items.

Changing Your Order Before It Has Shipped

We are only able to make changes to orders that have not yet been shipped if you contact us immediately after placing the order; please be prepared with your order number. At Unico, we work hard to ship orders as quickly as possible, and your order could ship within a few hours of being placed. Unfortunately, we are unable to make any changes to an order once it has left our warehouse.

Cancellations

Orders can only be cancelled before they have shipped. If you wish to cancel an order that has already shipped, you will need to set up a return and send the material back with a Return Authorization. You can set up your return by calling or emailing customer service. The customer is responsible for the initial shipping charges for the order and the shipping charges associated with the return.

Important Update: A2L Refrigerants

Statement on the new A2L refrigerants update.

In an effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, the HVAC industry will begin to phase out R-410A and replace it with A2L refrigerants starting on January 1, 2025.

Beginning January 2026, any remaining R410A Unico equipment in inventory can only be used for replacement, not as a “new system” installation. To comply with EPA regulations, Unico will be required to provide separate models for R410A coils and A2L coils (either R454B or R32).

Our full statement explains what this means for our contracting partners and distribution partners. We assure our customers that we will provide complete, available, and widely promoted product updates regarding these changes when the time comes.
